In consideration for the opportunity to attend and/or participate in the Michigan Technology Conference 2026 (“MITechCon 2026”) hosted by the Michigan Technology Conference Association, Inc., a Michigan nonprofit (“Organizer”), and held at or in connection with Oakland University (“University”) facilities, I hereby agree to the following Waiver and Release of Liability (“Waiver Agreement”):

By registering for MITechCon 2026, I acknowledge that I have read, understand, and agree to be legally bound by this Waiver Agreement.

I acknowledge that participation in, attendance at, observation of, or travel to or from MITechCon 2026 involves inherent risks, including but not limited to personal injury, illness, property damage, or other losses, and I voluntarily assume all such risks.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, I release, waive, and discharge the University, the Organizer, and their respective trustees, directors, officers, employees, agents, representatives, volunteers, sponsors, and affiliates (collectively, the “Released Parties”) from any and all claims, demands, causes of action, damages, liabilities, losses, or expenses of any kind, whether known or unknown, arising out of or related to my participation in, attendance at, observation of, or travel to or from MITechCon 2026.

I agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless the Released Parties from and against any and all claims, demands, liabilities, damages, costs, or expenses (including reasonable attorneys’ fees) arising out of or related to my participation in MITechCon 2026 or my acts or omissions, except to the extent caused solely by the gross negligence or willful misconduct of a Released Party.

I understand and agree that the University is not responsible for providing security, medical, or emergency services for participants and that I am solely responsible for my own safety and well-being while attending MITechCon 2026.

If I register on behalf of a minor child or children, I represent and warrant that I am the parent or legal guardian of such minor(s), or have legal authority to act on their behalf. I consent to their participation in MITechCon 2026, assume all risks on their behalf, agree to supervise them at all times, and accept full responsibility for their conduct and safety. I further release, waive, and discharge the Released Parties from any claims arising out of or related to the minor’s participation and agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless the Released Parties from any claims brought by or on behalf of such minor(s), or arising from their participation.

I acknowledge that the University is a governmental entity and that nothing in this Waiver Agreement shall be construed as a waiver of any governmental immunity or limitation of liability available to the University under applicable law.
